Any Cub Scout leader can tell you, every pack is unique – so their anniversary celebration should be also!

For some packs, participating in new activities is the highlight of the banquet. The main event for other packs might be an age-old Cub tradition. With the proper planning, Blue and Gold banquets have the potential to be the Cub Scouting soiree of the year.

A recent Cub Hub blog post brings us fresh ideas to help plan a jaw-dropping event.  If you’re looking for new celebration ideas or even if your pack already has established traditions, these tips are sure to spark excitement for your pack’s next banquet. The story delivers brilliant pointers like:

  • Involve Cub Scouts in the Planning: Get the Cubs excited for the Blue and Gold festivities by letting them take part in the process.
  • Feature a Program with Scout Skits: Let Cubs practice their showmanship skills in this classic form of Scouting entertainment.
  • Hold a Silent Auction: Cub Hub explains this is a double-win because, “a silent auction offers something for the attendants to do, and it’s a clever way to fundraise.”
  • Honor Advancement: Whether its rank patch advancements, crossover ceremonies, or anything else your pack celebrates during Blue and Gold celebrations, be sure to give your hard-working Cubs a chance to shine in their achievements.

Planning the banquet can be a big project but after all the hard work is done and the event starts to unfold, volunteers and parents know they’ve created something their Cubs won’t soon forget. Make sure to read the full article on Cub Hub to get the scoop on all nine of these totally golden (and blue) ideas!
