Checking in on the Arrow Tour

Checking in on the Arrow Tour

Our Arrowmen have been on the road all summer spreading the word about Scouting as they celebrate 100 years since the Order of the Arrow was founded. What a great job they’re doing!

Check out some of the photos and videos they’ve posted from their ArrowTour stops in 110 cities all over the country. Arrowmen also have been sharing great stories as they blog about their experiences. And there has been some great media coverage and interviews along the way, too.

From the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock, Ark.:

  • “We do this because we really want people to catch the energy of the ArrowTour and feel the sense of pride we have in being part of it.”
  • “Scouting is definitely alive; Scouts do really important service work.”
  • “I joined Scouts for the skills. I’ve learned a lot of them. Now it’s about giving back and serving.”

From the Jackson Sun in Jackson, Miss.:

  • “The Order of the Arrow is all about brotherhood, cheerfulness and service.”
  • “They (the OA) help in teaching our younger Scouts the values and the tenets of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law as they serve as mentors.”

From KPAX-TV, Missoula, Mont. :

  • “It is incredible the opportunities that Boy Scouts has presented to me personally, and just as a human being, not just as a Boy Scout, the character that has gone into it that has helped me develop as a person.”

Our honor society is doing itself proud sharing the values of Scouting with so many of our neighbors this summer. They are terrific ambassadors for our movement!

At the end of their summer-long trek is a centennial celebration this week for the Order of the Arrow at Michigan State University, with about 15,000 Arrowmen taking part.

Well done, Arrowmen! Your 100th anniversary of cheerful service speaks volumes about how important Scouting is to America’s young people and the strength of our communities across this great nation.
