East Carolina Council Welcomes New Scout Executive

2ea943aJoin us in congratulating Doug Brown on his new position as the Scout executive for the East Carolina Council, Kinston, NC. He’ll assume the role on Sept. 1, 2015. 

Brown is currently a member of the Regional Operations office and began his professional Scouting career as an Exploring executive at the Crossroads of America Council in Indianapolis, IN. He became a senior district executive delivering Scoutreach and, later, field director of Learning for Life. While serving in Scoutreach, Doug was the chief architect of what has become the “Cub Scout Delivery System” currently used by 155 councils nationwide. He was promoted to senior director of Exploring in the National Resource Center in Irving, TX, overseeing exceptional growth in the program. Doug is currently the associate regional director of the support team for the 56 councils in the Western Region. He was also an OA lodge staff advisor and sub-camp director for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. He has volunteered as an assistant Scoutmaster, Pack committee chair, and Pack popcorn kernel.

Brown is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He and his wife have three children, including a Life Scout a Webelos, and a Junior Girl Scout.
