Midnight Sun Council Welcomes New Scout Executive

Congratulations to Stephen Smith who will begin serving as Scout Executive of the Midnight Sun Council in Fairbanks, Ala., on December 1, 2015.

Stephen began his Scouting career as district executive at the Columbia-Montour Council in Bloomsburg, Pa. He moved on to become the senior district executive of the Juniata Valley Council in Reedsville, Pa., and then became district director with the Daniel Webster Council in Manchester, N.H. He was the senior district executive of the Southern New Jersey Council in Millville, N.J., and moved on to become district director of the Central New Jersey Council, Dayton, N.J. Stephen was then promoted to assistant Scout Executive of the Monmouth Council, Morganville, N.J.

Stephen enjoys fishing, cooking, camping, and spending time with his family. Stephen and his wife, Mary Ann, have four children, five grandchildren, and two dogs. They are expecting their sixth grandchild in November.

Stephen joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Midnight Sun Council to deliver quality Scouting experiences to the young people of the communities they serve. Wish him well in the comments below!
