Mom Shares How Scouts Are Giving Back to Soldiers

Cub Scouts from the Capitol Area Council helped deliver and unload nearly 2,000 lbs of popcorn to their local troops stationed at Camp Mabry in Austin, TX to say “thank you” to the men and women serving our country. The ton amounted to $70,000 worth of popcorn donations that will be distributed to military families across the state. 

Mom blogger Priscilla Hedline of The Wheelchair Mommy captured the whole experience on her blog and detailed what the event meant to the Scouts and the community.

“They all worked together, with uniformed soldiers and den leaders to get the boxes off the truck quickly and efficiently,” explained Priscilla. “It was an incredible lesson in teamwork!”

Priscilla says it was an honor for the pack to give back and express their gratitude to the troops in person. She says the Scouts appreciated seeing how their fundraising efforts were making a difference to others.

“It’s always so rewarding to say thank you to the men and women in uniform who take on the job that so few are willing to do,” she shared.

Priscilla hopes Scouts will look to this pack as a firsthand example of what their fundraising efforts mean to the troops.

“Oh, and the best part?! Now the Scouts have a REAL story to share when selling,” exclaimed Priscilla. “They can relay firsthand WHERE the popcorn really goes when someone donates to our troops!”
