Our Silver Buffalo Class of 2015

Our Silver Buffalo Class of 2015

One of my favorite moments at our National Annual Meeting is the naming of our recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award, the Boy Scouts of America’s highest award for noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on a national basis.

Silver Buffalo Award

2015 Silver Buffalo Recipients (From L-to-R) Front Row: Rick Bragga, John Lea IV, Jeff Jonasen, Glenn Ault, Skip Oppenheimer, Si Brown. Back Row:  Glenn Adams, Dan Maxfield, Larry Gibson, Bruce Trefz, Bob Sirhal. Not pictured:  John Whitehead (awarded posthumously), Andrew Young

They are all true Hall-of-Famers for their commitment to Scouting, and I am very proud to share this 2015 roster of new additions to our legendary ranks of Silver Buffalo honorees:

  • Glenn A. Adams (Ft. Worth, TX)
  • Glenn Thomas Ault, M.D (Hacienda Heights, CA)
  • Richard Paul Bragga (Henrico, VA)
  • S. “Si” Brown III (New Iberia, LA)
  • Larry M. Gibson (Highland, UT)
  • Jeffery Q. Jonasen (Winter Garden, FL)
  • John Willis Lea IV (Nashville, TN)
  • Daniel B. Maxfield (Madera, CA)
  • Arthur F. “Skip” Oppenheimer (Boise, ID)
  • Robert J. Sirhal (Kingston, RI)
  • Bruce Robert Trefz (Gastonia, NC)
  • John C. Whitehead (New York City, NY)
  • Andrew J. Young (Atlanta, GA)

They all come from different walks of life, yet our Silver Buffalo Award recipients are united by the common bond of ensuring that America’s young people have the opportunity for values-based, character-building experiences that will last a lifetime.

I ask all of you to join me in personally congratulating these fine Scouting leaders for a job well done.

Thanks, Wayne
