SCOUTStrong for Healthy Scouts

Scouting aims to develop healthy kids. But did you know Units can be rewarded for their Scouts’ commitment to great health practices?

Scouts can earn the SCOUTStrong Healthy Unit Award along with their den, pack, troop, or crew. Patches for the achievement are now available on ScoutStuff.

The BSA in partnership with Healthy Kids Out of School developed the SCOUTStrong Healthy Unit Award.  Healthy Kids Out of School is an initiative of ChildObesity180 at Tufts University Friedman School.  Regional funding for Healthy Kids Out of School was provided by the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation.

How to Earn the SCOUTStrong Healthy Unit Award

Earning the achievement isn’t too tough. Just show your unit’s commitment to healthy living by following these three healthy practices at meetings and gatherings:

  1. Snack smart: Serve fruits or vegetables, when you have snacks (three meetings).
  2. Drink right: Make water the main beverage (six meetings).
  3. Move more: Include 15 minutes of fun physical activity (nine meetings).

Sounds pretty attainable, right? For more information on how to track progress and helpful tips helping your unit stay healthy, head to
