If you’re headed outdoors to see the eclipse on Monday (Aug. 21), we want to experience it along with you. And so does everyone in the Scouting community!

Whether you’re planning a weekend-long campout, headed to a Scout camp viewing party, or scoping out the eclipse in your backyard with buddies, we’re challenging you to capture the best moments and share them on Instagram and Twitter using #BSAEclipse2017 (or you can email them to communications@Scouting.org).

From there, you may see your photos on Boy Scouts of America‘s and Boys’ Life’s official social media channels. That’s right, the more pics and videos you share, the greater chance of scoring a Scouting shout out!

What Kind of Eclipse Pictures Should I Share?

We want to make sure you’re enjoying the full sights and experience of a total solar eclipse (be sure to view this phenomenon safely – don’t look directly at the sun). That’s why we’re asking you to share pictures and videos of Scouts enjoying the friendship and activities that come along with a viewing party, versus coverage of the actual eclipse in motion.

Don’t forget to include #BSAEclipse2017 in your photo and video posts to make sure we see all the great experiences you share.

And most importantly, make sure you time your social media shares around your location’s pinnacle viewing times. It will be years until you can catch another sight like this!
