Want to take your pack’s next Pinewood Derby event to the next level? Get creative like suburban Chicago’s Pack 10 and reach out to your local car dealership for fundraising opportunities. Why not take it a step further? Mix in some high-performance luxury vehicles and contact your local BMW dealership. Not only did this pack receive a donation to build a new Pinewood Derby track – BMW sponsored the entire event!

When a longtime customer and Scout supporter approached Patrick Womack of Laurel BMW in Westmont, IL., for a donation to build a new Pinewood Derby track, Womack went beyond the request. With a passion for racing and Scouting (Womack is a former Scout!), he donated an estimated $3,000 dollars to purchase an official Pinewood Derby track.

Patrick Womack didn’t cut any corners either. The daylong event was paid for entirely by the folks over at BMW which included space in the facility, BMW staff volunteers, food, BMW hats and other prizes. Celebrity racers even made special appearances.

Amp up your next Pinewood Derby event like this pack and it’ll undoubtedly be something your Cub Scout will never forget! To read the complete story of how this pack partnered up with BMW, check out Automotive News.
