WATCH: How This Mom Started a Pack

When Lydialice’s son came home from school with a desire to be outdoors and do the things Scouts do best, she didn’t just sign him up for Cub Scouts. She started her own Pack.

“We knew that we needed trained leaders,” Lydialice explains in a new video you can use to share Scouting’s value. “We knew that we needed to teach each kid what they need to learn to keep growing up and earn Eagle.”

While most parents who want to get their kids involved in Scouting don’t need to start a brand new unit, Lydialice’s drive to lead one communicates how the BSA’s programs turn Scouting newbies into huge advocates. Lydialice also shares how the unit has transformed her community into a family.

She says, “We get together, we teach our kids. In other words, we have fun with a purpose. We love our community … our community is very tight.”

Watch the video below, and then read on to learn how you can use this piece to leverage your own units’ successes.

How Your Council Can Use This Video

You can download this video in the BSA’s Brand Center. Once it’s saved to your computer, the sky is the limit in how you share its message with fellow Scouters, parents of potential Scouts, and charter organizations. Some key spots to upload the video include Facebook and YouTube. From there, you can even embed the video on your council’s website. Be sure to include instructions on how prospective Scouts and Scouters can get involved with your unit.

As Lydialice explains,”For my family, Scouting is a way of life. We’re building memories.”

By sharing this video with your Scouting network, you’re one step closer to helping other families build memories in Scouting, too.
