Why This Life Scout Encourages Others to Join Scouting
Scouters, volunteers, and parents know the positive impact Scouting has on youth. In fact, in our Families Like Yours video series families across the nation shared what Scouting means to them and how the program has changed their lives. And just recently, Scouting Wire shared a study which scientifically proves the value of Scouting. But what do the kids have to say about the program? Read on to hear a Scout’s firsthand account.
The Benefits of Joining Scouting
My name is Cole and I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 336 and I am working on my Communications merit badge.
I would like to encourage kids of all ages to join the Scouts. Being in Scouts is just generally fun; in the five years I have been in Scouts, I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
Scouts teaches young kids important things about life and other important ideas kids need to know. We have loads of fun going on several camping trips in a year, including the normal Tarrant Ranch trips on some weekends, summer and winter camp trips that last a week, and many more.
Also, if a Scout works very hard, they can become an Eagle Scout, which is an amazing achievement in a person’s lifetime. Being in Scouts is just generally fun; in the five years I have been in Scouts, I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
