Catch the JTE Leadership Hour: Creating and Executing a Strategic Plan

When it comes to executing annual planning, some councils will exceed their targets, some will hit them head on, and others will fall short.

Which group did you fall in last year, the year before that, and the year before that? Where will you end up next year? Are you looking for different results in 2016?

After the start of the new year, most councils schedule a few days out of the office for planning. Whether the planning meeting agenda is set to address membership, programming, or fundraising, the general goal of the conference is to set targets and build a plan to get there.

These targets should be aligned with the broader, bolder strategic vision of the council. And if you’re hoping to achieve different results in your council, it’s time to take different actions, bolstered by a different plan.

That’s why our next Journey to Excellence Leadership hour will focus on one of the most important secrets of success for organizations – how to create and execute an effective strategic plan that will take your council to its desired destination. Whether you have a current council strategic plan or need to create one, we can help you not only align it with the new BSA strategy but also dramatically increase its success!

What to Expect on the Livestream

First, we will discuss the process of creating a plan from finding leadership, to creating a great experience through board retreats, to developing “dynamic” roadmaps. We will also share the latest features on My Council Plan (MCP), the online tool that will keep your council focused on achieving your priorities. This tool has been updated and now has mobile apps and dashboards that communicate success and drive action.

Join us on Wednesday, October 28, and learn more about strategic planning and execution. Hear from a panel of local council staff and volunteers about their successful strategic planning experiences. And discover what a difference strategic planning can make in your local council.

This one-hour broadcast will begin at 10 a.m. Central (5 a.m. Hawaii, 7 a.m. Alaska, 8 a.m. Pacific, 9 a.m. Mountain, and 11 a.m. Eastern). Invite those Scouters on your team to listen in on this session.

You can access the broadcast using this Livestream link: www.new.livestream.com/bsa/nationalcouncil.

We look forward to sharing key strategic planning experiences and resources with you. For those who cannot attend at the scheduled time, a recording of the broadcast will be available at the link above.
