Have You Heard Why Kids Are Joining Scouting?

IMG_8644Personal recommendations pull a lot of clout when it comes to trusting a new product or program. In fact, millennials trust brands and advertising less and less. They increasingly look to friends and other millenials who share their interests for input on buying decisions. This peer-approved brand awareness is usually associated with adults, but it happens among kids too.

Scout mom Mellisa shares how her son joined his unit in fourth grade after hearing a rave review.

She shared on her blog Mom Luck, “His friend at school was telling him all about this awesome program where you can learn how to make fire, tie knots, go camping and have fun with your friends. Of course, it didn’t take much convincing for my son to know that he wanted to join.”

Mellisa’s appreciation for the program followed. She explains how Boy Scouts gets the whole family involved by highlighting a recent family trip to the 2015 Campout Under The Stars at the Driller’s Stadium in Tulsa.

The experience was stellar, but don’t take our word for it. Check out Mom Luck for yourself to hear why this mom recommends the Boy Scouts for other families.

After you read Mellisa’s post, share with us in the comments below: why do you think peer recommendations are so successful in recruiting? How do you plan to incorporate this into your recruiting strategy this fall?
