How This Council is Integrating Marketing and Recruiting For All to See

Curating an effective and creative recruiting strategy that unites with marketing efforts is no easy feat. But this council seems to have the magic touch! By using their building as a larger than life canvas, the Sagamore Council of North Central Indiana is not only upgrading their curb appeal – they’re sharing the Scouting story, too! Read on to see how this idea came to life.

Sharing the Scouting Experience

Sagamore CouncilEager to amp up marketing outreach to the community, Scout Executive Chris Mehaffey sought out a marketing grant to fund a project that would give council marketing efforts a boost and feature the Build an Adventure recruiting campaign. But who would fashion the designs? An Eagle Scout, of course.

Council VP of Marketing and PR Vicki Triplett reached out to Eagle Scout and graphic design aficionado Colin Lawrence for leadership on the project’s design. Triplett knew Lawrence, a Scouting friend of her son and a past member of her husband’s troop, was the right man for the job. After pouring over the BSA Flicker account for inspiration and photo resources, Lawrence landed on a few designs to present to the council for review.

After months of preparation, the council was awarded the marketing grant in June. The Eagle’s winning design was chosen and sent to SpeedPro Imaging in Lafayette, IN, for final production and installation. The completed project was officially unveiled via the Sagamore Council’s Facebook page on July 9 with a major shout-out to Lawrence for his graphic design chops. But this design is more than meets the eye. If you look closely, you can catch the Eagle as a Tenderfoot featured in the Build an Adventure photo series (hint: he’s wearing the red hat)!
