Story by J.T. Dabbs, Scout Executive of Greater Alabama Council:

It was a real honor to present our first Summit award to Venturer Sydney R. of Crew 328. Sydney and her entire crew did an amazing job of making this a ceremony to remember.

Demonstrating Leadership

The Summit Award represents Venturing’s highest honor. To achieve this ultimate recognition, you will serve the crew as a leader— both formally and informally— and you will be a mentor to others. In addition, you will strengthen your community by designing and leading a service project to benefit others. The experience gained in earning this award will help you mature as a member of a team and as an individual.

Sydney R., from Greater Alabama Council, previously served as Council Venturing President, and was recently selected to serve as the 2017-2018 Regional Venturing Vice President of Program. Sydney has also served as a Venturing Crew officer, Council Venturing Vice President, and Assistant Dean of the College of Venturing at the University of Scouting.

As a Venturer, she has graduated from NYLT, Kodiak, ILSC, and the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Additionally, she has been awarded the Venturing Award, the Discover Award, the Pathfinder Award, and the Council Venturing Leadership Award. Beyond her work in Scouting, Sydney has also served as an AWANA kindergarten Sparks student leader and dance instructor at a ballet academy.
