What Your Council Needs to Know for 2016

What Your Council Needs to Know for 2016

The new year is approaching quickly, with only a few short weeks before we ring in 2016. To assist in your council’s strategic planning for next year, the Performance Management Department is providing demographic data specific to each council. Councils can locate the Demographic and Income Profile and Total Available Youth by Ethnicity Table on MyBSA.

The Demographic and Income Profile provides information about the population in the council area. The file also provides information like:

  • Estimates for 2015 and projections for 2020
  • Race and ethnicity data
  • Educational attainment
  • Annual income ranges
  • Total available youth

The Total Available Youth by Ethnicity Table includes:

  • Populations by ZIP code
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Cub Scout-age, Boy Scout-age, and Venturing-age total available youth
  • Excel format for easy analysis

How to Access

Councils can download a PDF of the Demographic and Income Profile and an Excel file of the Total Available Youth by Ethnicity Table, from MyBSA > Resources tab > Council Planning Data > then select by region, area, and headquarter city.

If you have questions or comments, please reach out to market.analysis@scouting.org. Additional demographic and geographic-level information may be available upon request.
