Accentuate Your Summer With an Appalachian Adventure

Looking for a one-of-a-kind camping expedition this summer? The Summit Bechtel Reserve has the solution for a campout you won’t forget!

If you want to experience High-Adventure, but also want the flexibility of making your own activity schedule, then the the Summit’s Appalachian Adventure is the perfect camping trip for you.

Campers will get a true taste of the Summit with activities like zip-lines, skateboarding, kayaking and more. But during the Appalachian Adventure, you get to try these awesome Summit activities at your own pace.

A recent Summit blog post shares the details for this short-term camping trip, and breaks down the “open program” format it’s built around.

The Summit’s Danny Bell explains in the article, “Appalachian Adventure is a great opportunity for a unit to discover the adventure sports available at the Summit Bechtel Reserve on their own terms.”

Basically, the High-Adventure Base’s Scott Summit Center is your open frontier! Once you’re done with your daytime activities, you’ll get time to kick back and enjoy the evening with events like campfires and live-music, just to name a few.

This fast-paced, High-Adventure program is open to Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews, Varsity Teams, and Explorer posts over weekend sessions—Sunday night to Wednesday morning (Session A) or Wednesday night to Saturday morning (Session B).

In his post, Danny even shares some ingenious tips to pair an Appalachian Adventure with a state park excursion for you and your unit. Check out some of the “world-class” outdoor fun you can discover in West Virginia on the Summit’s full blog post, and start planning your trip now.
