Looking for the perfect mix of Scouting and STEM adventures? How about an educational program focused on conservation and leadership development at the magnificent Philmont Scout Ranch?
If you think this sounds like a recipe for the perfect STEM camping experience, you’re in luck: there’s still time to sign up for Philmont’s Roving Outdoor Conservation School (ROCS), Trail Crew Trek (TCT) and STEM Treks!
These three conservation trek programs give the young men and women of Scouting and Venturing the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that makes Philmont Scout Ranch what it is today.
Bryan on Scouting recently shared a post with details on these programs, including insights from Philmont’s Sarah Burgess. Sarah gives some pretty good reasons why you won’t want to miss these conservation treks.
First, She tells us that scholarships are available for trek participants, and that they are practically “there for the asking.” In fact, $9,000.00 was awarded last year to Philmont’s trek participants.
Also, you don’t need a crew to join any of these treks. You can come to Philmont individually and join the adventure with new Scouting friends.
Make sure to check out the full story from Bryan on Scouting to learn more about each of Philmont’s environmental education programs. Then, head to Philmont’s website for registration details and start planning your summer trek now!
