Doug Nelson Named Scout Executive of Northeast Illinois Council

Douglas Nelson has been named Scout executive of Northeast Illinois Council in Highland Park, Illinois, effective April 16, 2017.

Doug began his Scouting career as a district executive at the Anthony Wayne Area Council in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He moved on to become a senior district executive with the Black Swamp Area Council in Findlay, Ohio, and later an Exploring executive with the Erie Shores Council in Toledo, Ohio.

He then served as senior district executive and field director before being promoted to director of field service of Crossroads of America Council in Indianapolis, Indiana. Doug then served as director of field service of Northern Star Council in Saint Paul, Minnesota. For the past five-and-a-half years, he has served as Scout executive of Miami Valley Council in Dayton, Ohio.

Doug is an Eagle Scout who enjoys camping, hiking, geocaching, sports, home remodeling, and landscaping. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children.
