Fall Voice of the Scout Session is Over … Now What?

Experience Recovery reports from the Voice of the Scout fall session are now available for Scout executives to view on MyBSA. These reports list requests made by members to have someone from their council contact them about their Scouting experience. Reaching out to these members is considered a critical step for addressing retention.

Here are three tips on how your council can effectively leverage this report:

  1. Exercise best practices in addressing issues by looking for common themes among at-risk members. To assist with this process, a pre-formatted tracking report can be found online here. (Any Excel spreadsheet or Word document table will accomplish the same thing for those who would rather work in those programs.)
  2. Jump-start the conversation with parents, volunteers, and members by reviewing this template script.
  3. Get back to members quicker by expanding access to the Experience Recovery report to other professionals.

Lastly, all survey responses are in the process of uploading onto the VOS Dashboard. Once this is complete in the coming weeks, councils will be able to see their results and read all member comments directly down to the district level. When the dashboard clears, a notice will be posted here and an email will be sent to Council Key 3s. National level findings, analysis and infographic report will be socialized by January 8.

Until then, councils are encouraged to socialize a broad “thank you” to their members on websites, newsletters and social media for participating in the Voice of the Scout!
