It’s important for all youth-serving organizations to find new ways to offer outdoor programs that are not only relevant for today’s young people, but teach the importance of safety and respecting the environment as well.

I’ll use our new partnership with Polaris, the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, as an example.

We’ve just announced the signing of a 10-year exclusive partnership with Polaris to provide all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), side-by-sides (SxS), and safety equipment to Scout camps across the country.

Don’t worry, there’s nothing that can replace the healthy benefits of a good, old-fashioned 10-mile hike. This off-road strategy is intended to complement our current programs out on the trail.

Polaris’s partnership, in fact, will provide a comprehensive off-road vehicle program to introduce Scouts to this sport with an emphasis on safety, responsible riding, and respect for the environment. Pilot programs at several local council camps have been very popular, with more than 900 Boy Scouts learning basic riding and maintenance while earning safety patches.

This opportunity will not only provide our Scouts expanded outdoor experiences, but give them a new sense of why safety and environmental responsibility are so important — all while learning a great new sport. We plan to eventually bring new off-road vehicle experiences to Scouts across the nation. We’re thankful to Polaris for working closely with us to launch this terrific new chapter in adventure and the outdoors for Scouting.

Great partnerships like this can translate to new opportunities for Scouts when we work with the right people who understand your goals and values. What new partners have benefitted the services you provide to young people? Let us know about your success stories!

Thanks, Wayne
