How Your Next Haircut Could Make a Difference to a Veteran

How Your Next Haircut Could Make a Difference to a Veteran

There’s just something about getting a fresh haircut that makes you feel like a million bucks. But what if you could have that same great new ‘do feeling, while also giving back to a veteran? Well thanks to the Greater New York Councils and Great Clips Hair Salons, you can!

On behalf of the Greater New York City Council, Great Clips is donating $10,000 to the American Legion to thank veterans for their service and sacrifices to the country.

That means on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2015, anyone who gets a haircut at any Great Clips location across the country will receive a free haircut card to be given to a veteran or active military service member. The free haircut cards are redeemable on or after Veteran’s Day.

As the largest wartime veterans service organization in the country, the American Legion is committed to mentoring youth, advocating patriotism, promoting strong national security, sponsoring value-based programs and honoring service members and veterans. The American Legion has long been a valued charter organization of the BSA and this is a cool way to meet the needs of our veterans.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from the GNYC Council hopped in the barber chair and said goodbye to their hair on this week’s Fox and Friends, alongside representatives from the American Legion and Great Clips to help build awareness and raise money for the cause.

Watch the full Fox and Friends segment featuring Scouts from the Greater New York Council below. And don’t forget – get your haircut on November 11 at any Great Clips to say thank you to our veterans!
