Introducing the 2016 Silver Buffalo Award Winners
BSA’s Silver Buffalo Award, the highest national recognition for adult members, is a rare honor given to dedicated volunteers who have put tremendous effort into growing the Scouting movement.
You may not recognize all of their names. But because of their unwavering commitment to serving America’s youth, our previous Silver Buffalo recipients have been invaluable mentors living and teaching the core values behind the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
At last week’s 2016 National Annual Meeting in San Diego, Scouting recognized the Silver Buffalo Class of 2016, comprising 13 volunteers throughout many levels of Scouting. They join American presidents, Hollywood icons, astronauts and many others who have been honored with the Silver Buffalo since 1926.
Among those honored this year are the driving force behind the BSA’s initiative promoting education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); a powerful advocate for providing outdoor adventures to kids who otherwise may not have the chance to experience camping; and the spiritual leader of the Archdiocese of New York.
