Introducing BSA’s New International Commissioner
Our relationship with other Scouting organizations around the world has become increasingly important, and it requires a strong and creative ambassador to keep us all connected and serving each other’s needs to the best of our ability.
That’s where the BSA International Commissioner comes in. It is a position of great importance, serving as the main liaison with global Scout contacts.
I am pleased to announce that Roger Schrimp has been named to assume those responsibilities as our International Commissioner. He will represent the BSA within the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), a confederation of more than 160 recognized national Scout organizations.
An attorney in Modesto, California, Roger has terrific Scouting credentials, currently serving on the National Executive Board; Chairman, International Committee; Operations Committee; General Services Committee; Youth Protection Committee; National Court of Honor and United States Fund for International Scouting Committee. He is also an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow, as well as recipient of the Explorer Silver Award, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, Award of Merit, and Distinguished Eagle Award.
Roger is a founder and past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Oak Valley Community Bank, and has served his community in a number of board positions, including: Trustee and Executive Board of the California State Parks Foundation; President, California Community Colleges Board of Governors; California Post-Secondary Education Commission; Trustee for the Board of Oakdale Unified School District; Chairman of the Oakdale Airport Commission, and Oak Valley Community Hospital Foundation, among others.
Roger is also a cattleman, and has served on a number of committees of the California Cattlemen’s Association. He has also served as President and board member for Rancheros Visitadores.
Looking ahead, Roger has several large global projects on his plate, including our ongoing Messengers of Peace commitment, the 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Kirara-hama, Japan, and the 2019 World Scout Jamboree to be hosted by The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.
I hope you will join me in extending a warm welcome to Roger and supporting him in his new role as much as possible.
Thanks!
Wayne
