JTE Leadership Hour: June 4 – Building Continuous Improvement Into the BSA

As we become a more member-centric organization the most important first step is to listen to your current and future members. To ask yourself – “Are we doing what we are supposed to do, as well as what we said we would do, on behalf of our current and future members?” The June Journey to Excellence Leadership Hour will focus on the answers to this critical question.

The first segment is devoted to the new Strategic Performance Office.  The Strategic Performance Office is all about helping each level of the Boy Scouts of America evaluate its performance in the context of answering the critical question above – Did we do what we said we would do?  From Journey to Excellence to Voice of the Scout, from Progress Reviews to Council Assessments, the performance specialists will assist in providing analysis of results and building strategies to help units, districts councils, and the National Council improve their Journey to Excellence scores through continuous improvement.  Also included are the new department are research analysts who can provide research and data on past performance of leading and lagging indicators.   Embedded also in the Strategic Performance Office is the Strategy Team.  With an emphasis on strategic and operational planning, this team was designed to help councils create and support their “My Council Plan” as well as “My Department Plan” for those in the national office.

The first segment is all about fulfilling our commitment to our current members, while the second segment is focused on securing future members. Using the most current market intelligence on today’s millennial families, the BSA will be better positioned to achieve membership growth through life-changing experiences! The Boy Scouts of America has recently contracted with Forrester – one of the world’s top market intelligence firms – to stay abreast of the fast-paced changes among youth and families.  The BSA has already identified seven key trends that all leaders in Scouting should know and understand in order to provide messages, programs and experiences that resonate with both youth and their parents.

If you and/or your team are looking to find ways to improve your performance and ultimately serve more youth, you do not want to miss the June Journey to Excellence Leadership Hour!

We will have only one broadcast at 9 a.m. Central time. The broadcast will be taped and can be viewed any time after posting.
