Make This Pinewood Derby Fun for All

How many people participate in your Pinewood pit crew?

Each year, Cub Scout packs from across the country gather with friends and family to zoom hand-painted creations across their respective tracks. While this iconic event is geared towards Cub Scouts, pack members certainly won’t be the only ones joining in on the fun.

Creativity, invention, and a taste of friendly competition come together to make this Scouting tradition thrilling for everyone involved. The Pinewood Derby has become an opportunity for the whole family to come together and participate in the excitement. Not to mention, it’s a great way to show prospective members some of the great things Scouting has to offer.

In a recent blog post, CubHub gives us 10 ways to make sure everyone at the race is able to participate and have a great Pinewood Derby experience.

From cheering on your friends and family to organizing a team clean-up, CubHub has the details on what it takes to achieve an inclusive event with activities such as:

  • Sibling Derby and prizes
  • Intergenerational races
  • “Outlaw Heat” shows
  • Spectator tracking sheets

There are even more great ideas where these came from, so be sure to check out the rest of the tips on CubHub’s full blog post and get ready for your best Pinewood Derby yet!
