On Tuesday Feb. 10, 2015, the All Markets Strategy committee gathered at the semi-annual BSA Board Meeting to discuss ways to deliver Scouting to more of our diverse markets. President & Chief Executive Officer, AT&T Mobile & Business Solutions, Ralph de la Vega chaired the meeting. BSA leaders from across the nation analyzed current and future diversity strategies focused on council, district, and unit level support and engagement.
To facilitate these strategies at the regional level, the committee has focused on the need to diversify both volunteer and staff support at the unit level. BSA’s four regional talent managers – Rebecca Fields of the Western region, Rene Monarez of the Central region, John Powell of the Southern region, and Dirk Smith of the Northeast region were introduced as they will play key roles in identifying and developing diverse talent for the BSA.
The meeting also introduced an upcoming bilingual Wood Badge course in Spanish and English. The course is open to all district and council leaders and gives specific insights into working with youth and their families in bilingual communities. To learn how you can be apart of this vibrant course, refer here for registration instructions.
