Last week at #NAM2015, you heard about the web app that tracks the Scouting experience from the first campout to completing an Eagle Scout service project. Now, hear from the creator of Scoutbook himself in the video below.
Shawn Jackson has been part of Scouting for 15 years and has three Scout sons. As one of his sons nears the Eagle Scout rank, Shawn has seen firsthand how challenging it can be for parents to juggle their kids’ activities and leadership opportunities. That’s why he created a web app that ensures the Scouting experience is as stress-free as possible, leaving plenty of opportunities to savor memories ushered by the BSA’s programs. Yes, that means less paperwork!
The web app makes a significant difference in the roles of Scout leaders like Chris and Scout parents like Michelle (featured alongside Shawn in the above video).
Chris notes how effective Scoutbook is for tracking a Scout’s progress. Michelle admires the app’s ability to appeal to her digital-loving son. Shawn reflects on a story of a unit leader who was in a board of review when a Scout didn’t have needed documentation. Scoutbook came to the rescue and helped the Scout successfully complete the board of review, as he pulled up the necessary info on the web app.
These stories are just the start of the positive outcomes Scouting will experience as Scoutbook reaches leaders and kids when, where, and how they prefer. To learn more about the Boy Scouts of America’s acquisition of the web app, head here.
