What This Mom Had to Say About Experiencing the Lion Program with Her Son

When mom blogger Angela of This Gathered Nest and her son were invited to spend a day exploring the best of what Scouting had to offer her family, they were thrilled to check the program out. Angela says she had always heard great things about Scouting – especially the prestigious Eagle Scout award – but she and her son had never actually experienced it for themselves.

“We have always been interested in having our sons join the Boy Scouts, but neither are old enough to join the traditional Cub Scouts, which begin in 1st grade,” shared Angela on her blog. “Until now that is!”

Angela learned about the new Lion pilot program, which offers the same values-based learning and activities she’s always admired – yet now, kindergarten-aged boys can get in on the fun, too.

“Obviously Noah and I were really excited to go check this new program, go #scouting, and see what it was all about!” she explained.

Angela and her son spent a day at the Mecklenburg Scout Reservation and got a glimpse of some of the age-appropriate activities offered in the new pilot. From fishing and arts & crafts to shooting at the BB gun range, Angela and her son enjoyed a fun-filled day exploring just a few of the adventures boys like her son can now experience.
