Lions to Become Full Part of Cub Scouts
Starting in the fall of 2018, Lion will join Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos as an official rank in the Cub Scout program.
This latest news for the Lion program follows a recent vote from the volunteer-led National Executive Board to include Lions as a full part of Cub Scouting.
The BSA has been conducting the Lion program as a national pilot, and, after multiple successful years of the pilot, the Lion program has proven valuable for families interested in starting their involvement with Cub Scouts at the Kindergarten-age.
The Bryan on Scouting blog has shared multiple key details about the Lion program, including elements of the program that will change and what families can expect when they begin enrolling children in the fall of 2018.
Now, any Cub Scout unit in any council will be able to start recruiting new Lion participants and their families in the fall. This is a change from the previous structure that required BSA approval for specific councils to participate.
