This Saturday will mark the one-year anniversary of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.  While deeply saddened to remember the victims of this senseless act, I’m inspired by the request made by the victims’ families at a recent press conference: perform an act of kindness so “that some small measure of good may be returned to the world.”

The ask is simple, but remarkable. And its impact can be great if we all take heed. I encourage you to take part. In big and small ways, one simple act of kindness can have far-reaching effects. Multiplied by hundreds or even thousands, simple acts of kindness can have immeasurable results.

The families have also launched a website, www.mysandyhookfamily.org, in honor of the victims. Spend a few minutes on the site if you can, and learn more about the lives that were taken that day. I’m certain in learning more about those we lost, you’ll feel inspired to join me in helping to remember them with your own acts of kindness.
