How Scouts in California Can Celebrate the Maker Movement

Did you check out the Scout who constructed a makerspace for his Eagle Scout project? Scouts like him in the California Bay Area with a penchant for creative, outside-the-box ideas are encouraged to attend a one-of-a-kind event designed to inspire the next generation of Makers.

Scouts can check out the big event, MakerFaire, May 20, 2016 from 1 to 5 p.m. in San Mateo, CA. Scouts, students and teachers at the Maker Faire will gain special early access to all the amazing Makers who will be exhibiting over the weekend.

From rockets to robots, hacked fashion to pedal power, Maker Faire has all kinds of do-it-yourself projects. As the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, the event will showcase creative and resourceful people in the areas of science and technology, engineering, food, and arts and crafts. This event is a great opportunity for Scouts to launch a local making initiative, whether that’s a makerspace, a School Maker Faire, or joining President Obama’s initiative, A Nation of Makers.
