How to Visit a National Park for Free This Week

How to Visit a National Park for Free This Week

Exploring the fun and adventure of your favorite national park is easier than ever this week because admission is free! That’s right – if you visit any national park through Sunday it won’t cost you a single penny. Why? In honor of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary and National Park Week, every national park has free admission from April 16 to 24, 2016.

The National Park Service is partnering with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to present National Park Week, a presidentially proclaimed celebration of our national heritage. National Park Week is all about discovering breathtaking destinations, enjoying affordable vacations, and connecting with Mother Nature.

Plan Your Visit Now

Check out the week’s lineup of activities you can join during National Park Week and then make plans to explore a park near you!

  • April 22: Earth Day
  • April 23: National Park Instameet
    • Join or organize an InstaMeet in a park. Gather in a designated place at a specific time to take photos and short videos to post on Instagram with the same hashtag: #FindYourParkInstaMeet, #FindYourPark, #EncuentraTuParque, #NPS100
  • April 24: Park Rx Day
    • On the last day of National Park Week, parks will host fun recreational activities that encourage healthy lifestyles and promote physical and mental well being.
