What the 2016 Voice of the Scout Discoveries Can Do to Help You

Want to improve how you make impactful decisions in your council? Look no further than the Voice of the Scout survey results.

More than 130,300 Scouts, parents, volunteers and chartered organization representatives imparted valuable feedback via the Voice of the Scout survey and now the data is ready for councils and districts to review on the VOS dashboard.

The dashboard provides a structured, streamlined way to review feedback at both council and district levels. This information helps identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as get ideas for improvement directly from the families, volunteers, and organizations that Scouting impacts.

How to Use This Data at the Council and District Level

  1. Identify the driver questions with the lowest agreement: Are there 1-2 actions that can be taken in the next 90 days to improve any of these low agreement experiences?
  1. Review the comments for promoters, passives, and detractors: Identify reoccurring topics or suggestions.
  1. Report back: Communicate findings and actions with your Scouting communities to show them their feedback matters.

Council and district professionals can access the dashboard on MyBSA. Council Key 3, committee chairs, and district Key 3 all have access on MyScouting. Comments from the dashboard can be downloaded into spreadsheets for in-depth review of the feedback.

Have questions or need more information? Questions and comments about the VOS program or dashboard can be directed to vos.scout@scouting.org. How do you use the data findings in the VOS to make positive strides in your council? Share in the comments below!
